The Hands-Free Driver Microphone is a revolutionary new concept in driver's microphone design. Hands-free, vandal-resistant, and unobtrusive, this microphone system is in a class of its own.

The Hands-Free Driver Microphone:

Hands-free operation. Conventional gooseneck and handheld microphones must be manually positioned by the vehicle operator before making an announcement. With the Hands-Free Driver Microphone this is a thing of the past. Drivers make announcements with both hands on the wheel and their focus on the road. Operation couldn't be easier - at the driver's convenience he or she simply depresses a footpedal, speaks in a normal tone of voice, and releases to record a message. As the vehicle approaches the announcement point, the footpedal is pressed again to playback through the vehicle's speakers.

Noise-canceling technology. Each Hands-Free Driver Microphone includes a state of the art Digital Signal Processor (DSP) to reduce background noise. This, combined with our high sensitivity unidirectional microphone element, provides a clear announcement without need of handling or positioning by the driver.

Vandal-resistant and maintenance free. The transit microphone is often one of the most abused pieces of equipment on a vehicle. Boom microphones have their stalks broken, handhelds are ripped from their cords, and lapel microphones simply disappear. Switches and connectors also wear out on a regular basis. As a result, repair and replacement costs for these microphones can be substantial. The Hands-Free Driver Microphone has been designed to be significantly more rugged than traditional microphone products. It has no visible cabling or conduit - only a discrete, low profile, unbreakable microphone housing is exposed. The system is completely solid state, designed to SAE J1455 environmental specs, and has no scheduled maintenance requirements.

Unobtrusive mounting. Our patented low profile microphone housing mounts discretely and securely on the vehicle's steering column. This mounting location also eliminates blind spots that can be created by microphone systems mounted on window pillars or other locations within the driver's field of view. The processor module can be mounted in any location and includes an additional standard microphone connector for auxiliary usage.

Integrated or stand alone operation. The Hands-Free Driver Microphone has been designed to fully integrate with and and enhance our DR600® and legacy DR500C+ Talking Bus® Sytems. Combined, they form an automated passenger information and public address system which is unparalleled in the industry. However, the Hands-Free Driver Microphone can also directly replace any standard driver's microphone and be used with your existing Public Address (PA) components.
